The Hotagen Nature Reserve offers several fantastic mountain hikes. One of the most popular is the trek to Stakafjället, which rises 861 meters above sea level. It's easily accessible—just a 10 km drive from Storåbränna to Lakavattnet, followed by a 3.5 km walk from the parking area at Lakavattnet. This is a great family-friendly hike with well-marked trails that follow mountain streams, winding paths, and boggy areas. Once you reach the summit, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of a network of mountains and peaks, including Djupvattsberget, Skalfjället, Öjarsklumpen, Gråberget, Harafjället, Bäverfjället, Erfjället, Hundklumparna, Rusfjället, and Kojklumpen.

But the adventure doesn’t stop there—other exciting trails lead to Skalfjället, Grubbfjället, and Almdalens Fjällgård.
